DC Comics Gets A Makeover
So today is the launch of DC Comic's rebooted universe, with younger, hipper superheroes and brand new outfits for everybody. I just saw a report on CNN with people who were standing outside a comic shop in New York for 12 hours waiting for the midnight release of JLA #1, where everybody's makeovers will be revealed.
I was pretty awesome to see comics getting that kind of coverage and enthusiasm. The head of DC comics - Jim Lee - showed up with a bunch of pizzas for the waiting crowd, which was an awfully nice gesture.
I like the new designs for the JLA - they're sleek and modernish, and they all have matching v-necks so you can tell they all go to the same tailor. Superman is no longer wearing his undies outside his pants; Wonder Woman has switched to silver instead of the gaudy gold; and Batman has gone back to the big-ass black bat chest logo.
I might even go to a comic shop today - something I haven't done for months, though DC is now releasing their new comics as digital downloads for the first time ever today, something they really needed to start doing before they died-out completely.
Also Today some new photos of Henry Cavill in his new Superman suit were released, and he looks pretty fricken hot:
He's built! He actually looks like a superhero. They're not doing the underwear-on-the-outside look for this movie either. I'm not sure how to feel about that. I might have to update the blog header.
